Altruism makes us compassionate and caring about people

By Mauro Libi.-      The word altruism has its origin in an old French word, altruisme, which means giving oneself to help those who need it. Altruism is understood as one of the most admirable qualities of the human being. Is the capacity to act selflessly for the benefit for others who may need help or those who are in inferiority conditions. We can consider it, as an inherent condition for human beings because, when we live in community, we relate to other individuals and we develop compassion feelings, empathy and love that lead us to act in a disinterested and compassionate way.

There are many attitudes that usually go with it and have to do with behaviors considered ethical and moral. Among these attitudes, we also should mention compassion, love of neighbor, solidarity and so on. The term altruistic, was also defined as the auxiliary in household tasks, going through the couple to work, helping with the pets care, children and a small innumerable good actions that have their reward.

According to a recent study by a group of positive psychologists from a prestigious university in the United States, have discovered that altruistic people have more sex. More than 300 adult men and women participated in the research, who talked about how much they have sex. The evaluation concluded that altruistic behavior has a positive perception on success and sexual partner life. Also, determined that women are looking for men to be protective and productive.

In the same way, other analyzes revealed that when we volunteer to help others, we have longer lives than those who don’t. In evaluating the participants as to the importance of the reasons for their volunteer work, it was found that the reasons for their action toward others were more important, they were more likely to remain alive. These assessments ensured that concern for one's neighbor leads us to act in the same system as mothers do, which includes a set of thoughts, emotions and neurological and psycho physiological circuits.

Mauro Libi Crestani: How to prevents mental overload?

A leading psychologist claims whistling or singing helps distract the mind from trying too hard and prevents mental overload. Wow! The Dwarfs were right!  Whistling while you work makes you do your job better . The seven dwarfs knew from positive attitude and they knew how to get things done and enjoy it. They also knew the secret to staying calm. Far from being down to 'just nerves' , choking up  occurs when the brain finds itself with too many pieces of information to process, resulting in 'paralysis by analysis', argues Dr Sian Beilock of the University of Chicago. The same holds true when presenting a vital sales pitch, making an important golf putt or doing an acting audition. So you do not want to choke up and lose that sale, that golf game or that acting job, then  maybe you need to  whistle while you work.     Not just whistling. When you’re humming, singing, or laughing, it’s also difficult to be stressed. It puts...
