Mauro Libi Crestani: What is the vision of your business? Mine is to continue investing in Venezuela

By  Mauro Libi Crestani.  A young man about asked me.  What the vision of your business? I replied: "Growing leaders in the grain market to continue investing in Venezuela. In our plant, our facilities, not only in our premium brand of cereal  Avelina  but in companies related to our sector, we expect to continue our growth, diversify the portfolio and add products to serve our consumers. That is the vision of our business. "  A young man about 24 years old was considering doing business in Venezuela but was afraid to take the risk. Everything changes daily.  It's too risky, he said.  That's when I told him that one of the world's most successful entrepreneurs, Mark Zuckerberg has the following motto: "In a world that is changing really fast, the only strategy where failure is guaranteed is in not taking risks". When you have a clear vision of the business, take into account that the risks are part of the process, without risk there i

Mauro Libi Crestani: How do you define success?

By Mauro Libi Crestani . For some, success may be to build a sustainable business. For others, it means finding more time to spend with your loved ones. It may be graduating from a university or becoming a recognized artist or an athlete who breaks the records of time. No matter what your goals, there is a key that will help you achieve it:  Creating habits. If you have had success in anything, you know that meant a lot of work behind the final result. Athletes like  Michael Phelps  or  Rafael Nadal  may be physically gifted, but did not become one of the largest in the world without thousands of hours of practice. Mark Zuckerberg built one of the most successful companies in the world - by establishing practices that have guided him along the way. Habits are vital for success, habits become routine. The value of cultivating good habits makes people succeed in what they are able to discipline themselves. One reason why many are unproductive and postpone the

"Life is hard at times. But when I overcome more challenges, I become much stronger then. So I’m going to embrace them.”

By Mauro Libi Crestani.    Life can be hard, sometimes real hard. Life being hard is not necessarily a bad thing. It actually may be a very good thing.  Colin Powell said, A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work. Why would we ever expect life to be easy? Blame it on Disney. Disney is a company that shows us a fantasy, it shows a life of perfection, where we will be in a fairy tale and every story has a happily ever after ending. Walt Disney created more than 81 feature films and hundreds of shorts. He earned more than 950 honors, including 48 Academy Awards. He founded the California Institute of the Arts. And he built Disneyland. Many of us have come to expect that life should be that care free, that with the slightest amount of failure or tragedy happening, we are ready to call it quits. Many of us feel like our lives are a failure, that things are not working out, that we wish we could be more successful. But let’s r

Mauro Libi Crestani: ‘‘I believe you can be a great one in business if you believe in yourself

By  Mauro Libi Crestani.  Following high school, Ziglar served in the Navy during World War II and later attended the University of South Carolina. His life took a turn when he left school to pursue a sales career, hoping to earn a better living for his family. For two years, Ziglar struggled for financial survival. He was not able to make a living and was all about to resign himself to the fact that he would forever live a life of poverty.   Then his boss, a Mr. Merrill had a few words with him that would change his life.   Mr. Merrill had a cookware company and Ziglar was a salesman working for him. I am going to quote part of this story from a book called ‘Life at the Top’ written years latter by Zig Ziglar. Mr. Merrill: “ I have never  seen such a waste of time and effort” Ziglar remembers. “Well, that was kind of a shock.  But I asked, ‘What do you mean?’ He said, ‘‘I believe you can be a great one in this business if you would just believe in yourself, work on

Mauro Libi Crestani: What to do when your employees are actively "disconnected"?

By  Mauro Libi Crestani . All major market surveys make it clear that at present, most  employees are producing less than they are capable of producing, so productivity levels of companies have declined alarmingly. Indeed, Gallup found that 71% of all employees are either "not engaged" or "actively disengaged" companies. Against this complicated scenario, employers must act and implement methods to reverse the numbers and connect the workforce to their responsibilities in organizations. Research indicates that companies should act when they see their employees do not feel committed to their workplace. HR departments handled a number of tools to reconnect workers subirles commitment, morale and increase their performance. It also has rules to prevent employees from falling into the temptation of the many distractions that abound in the workplace. Once companies recognize that employees are disabled (usually have dull countenance, drowsy, distracted, with

Mauro Libi Crestani: Positive thinking helps solve problems

By  Mauro Libi Crestani . Some readers have asked me if all successful business leaders have always been icons of positive thinking. My opinion is that many of them have, but there are others who approached their career goals with an attitude of "I can do it." So is the power of positive thinking  the key to success? I refer to research by Barbara Fredrickson, a professor of psychology who has written extensively about positivity. That research and have played in other entries in this blog. Fredrickson found that those with positive thoughts have a greater ability to take into account new information. Positive thinking perspective and improves the ability to "connect the dots", which allows optimistic people to cope with the problems and obstacles with a different attitude that usually allows them to win. The reality is that positive thinkers have more energy. If you see things in a positive or negative way, this personality trait called dispositional

Mauro Libi Crestani: Find the solution minimizing the problem

By  Mauro Libi Crestani . Some years ago I met Manuel, an electrician one day I arranged a wiring problem at home. Talkative, I talked to him about his projects, and he told me he had started his own company, but abandoned the idea after a while, because things had not gone as he had imagined it. So, he said he made a mistake that shattered his dream of being an entrepreneur, and that is why he has since made his living working for others. Regretfully he told me that success was not made for him, and he had forgotten how to be financially independent. Manuel repeated to me several times that everything went wrong. It always was the same. Every time something good happened to him, for some reason he still felt that his whole life was becoming a disaster, because this too would go wrong and become a failure. I remember inviting Manuel for coffee after repairs and I would emphasize that the problem was not life nor bad luck but his pessimistic thinking. Manuel had learned to see thin
